S/MIME Issues With My .mil CAC

S/MIME Issues With My .mil CAC

Problem

I have lost the ability to open encrypted messages from my DoD Enterprise Email (DEE).

Symptoms

  1. You can no longer open encrypted emails in Outlook on the web (OWA) for your email ending with .mil.
  2. When opening a signed email in Outlook on the web (OWA) for your email ending with .mil, you see a message indicated an S/MIME error.

Solution

  1. At this time, we do not have a resolution.
  2. The entire DoD is moving to this Office 365 environment.
  3. Each organization will be a ‘tenant’ and will have its own Program Manager.
The Tenant is the container for items of your Organization such as users, domains, subscriptions etc…
  1. SURVICE Engineering IT had a ticket in with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and this appears to be a known issue that can only be resolved on the server end.
  2. Updates to this issue will be posted here.

SURVICE IT is providing the following guidance to ALL affected employees.

According to the Government, only government domain and Azure government domain joined devices will have the ability to encrypt/decrypt email.
