Reauthenticating Office suite after 365 migration to GCCH.

Problem

  1. A user has their old credentials cached and can't authenticate to the new GCCH tenant space.
  2. User can't access any Office products/can't log into office on desktop.

Solution

Go to: https://portal.office365.us/ to begin signing into your new Microsoft Office account. (THIS MUST BE DONE FIRST)

Launch and Sign Out of Desktop Microsoft Outlook

  1. Launch Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Select File.

  3. Select Account, located in the lower left corner.

  4. Select Sign out located under your username/email address.

  5. Close and X out of ALL Microsoft Office applications.

  2. Type Settings.

Begin the NEW Micrsoft Experience

Repeat these steps for MS Outlook and for Teams
  1. Relaunch the desktop application (Teams or Outlook) to begin the NEW sign in experience.
  2. Users should expect to see the following dialogs with the latter of them displaying overtop the first one.

  3. Select "Sign in with X.509 certificate." and follow normal YubiKey sign-in steps.

You may be prompted repeatedly to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app. "Usually," if you press skip this step for now, it will stop annoying you "eventually" and never bother you again. It does take a few times before it gets the hint.
  4.  The Stay signed in to all your apps dialog will display. Select the OK button.
This process may take up to five minutes.

  5. If all goes well, you will be met by the You’re all set! dialog. Select the Done button.

  6. Users will be back to the initial dialog that was originally covered. Select the Sign in button.
