Discover Application Installations
Problem
Need list of program installations for computer.
Solution
Use get-wmiobject command in Windows PowerShell
1. Go to and select
Windows Start 
2. Type PowerShell, and select
the Windows PowerShell application
3. Copy and paste the
following command:
get-wmiobject
Win32_Product | Format-Table IdentifyingNumber, Name, LocalPackage -AutoSize |
out-file -filepath "C:\Users\[username]\Downloads\installs.txt"

Replace [username] with your username.
Once the application returns to the “prompt” you can close the application by selecting the X in the upper right corner of the application window.

The prompt resembles this illustration

Please send the output file installs.txt that
now exists at: C:\Users\[username]\Downloads\ within your file explorer to your Information Technology contact that requested this file.
